Please tell us a little about youself?
I am a full-time yoga teacher, philanthropist, and conscious activist. I have been teaching for over 7 years now and 5 years ago started offering yoga workshops called Journey of the Yogini exclusively for women. 10% from each workshop I run is donated to a local charity that specifically benefits women. In March 2011 I took an Off the Mat, Into the World leadership intensive to deepen my passion and become more effective in creating local and global change. Since June 2011, Journey of the Yogini as a community has raised almost $13,000 for charities that help benefit women and girls locally and globally. Its turned into (what I have been calling!) a for profit yoga-lanthropy business and am now working with Developing World Connections and Open Windows Foundation in Guatemala to offer the first Yoga, Action & Adventure trip to build a dream home for a deserving family in need.
What I AM. values inspire you and how?
The I AM. value that inspires me most is LOVE! From my OTM training I have done a lot of work to let go of fear and open myself to love and truly believe that we can help diminish the suffering of others by working through our own fears and pain. Love to me unifies, empowers and creates light for all. :)
Please share how you bring the I AM. values into your daily life?
Although it is a great dream to be able help everyone - I am a yoga teacher and we tend to be slightly co-dependent :) - I recognize that the tools I have locally is being love, and globally is to show that I love by helping in the best way I can. Creating community and partnering with those who make real, sustainable change in the world. Please explain what the I AM. idea means to you?
I can not express enough how much I LOVE this idea! The I AM. mission is exactly how I want my own workshop to take shape as it evolves and grows. I am always trying to create, grow and acknowledge community. I have been to Guatemala and ADORED the country and the people and their launch project has inspired me to take other there to help also. I AM. is a business with soul.
